Ma Petite – September 28, 2012 @ The Media Club
An Australian living in Canada, and a Canadian living in Australia, and Canadian living in Canada just to keep us all on the same page.
About Ma Petite:
Ma Petite is Melbourne born musician, Indiana Avent’s solo project. After spending almost a decade in the music industry playing violin for artists such as Bon Iver, Soko, Dan Mangan, Gotye, Jordan Klassen, Lamplight, Zachary Lucky, and Treelines among others, Avent decided to put her own originals out into the world. Snippets of her dreams, experience and aspirations, the little stories within the songs are brought to life by her band of incredibly talented musicians who help bring the quirky vibe of Ma Petites musical style to life. Soon to record her debut album ‘The Road That Led Me To Fall’, an album influenced and written leading up to, during and reflecting her time spent in Canada last year, Avent is gearing up for an exciting summer of gigs and collaborations

About Redbird:
Redbird is latest project from Vancouver singer-songwriter Savannah Leigh Wellman. The debut album We’re all friends and lovers until it falls apart was released in June 2011. The 6 song EP, produced by Shawn Cole (Yukon Blonde, Bend Sinister, You Say Party) moves from the driving rhythms of “No Game” and “In the Hands of Ghosts”, to more delicate, folk inspired moments in the heart wrenching honesty of “Some Birds” and “Oh Please My Heart”. The band pulls from a slew of sonic inspirations, from 70’s rock to Motown, with Savannah’s subtly soulful vocals hinting at alt-country influences. It all comes together in lush arrangements of guitars and vocal harmonies, with crashing drums and droning organs.
Since the release the band has toured Canada, been seen at Rifflandia Festival (Victoria), Pop Okanagan (Kelowna), Canadian Music Week (Toronto), and has shared the stage with Canadian Indie faves Library Voices, Yukon Blonde, Sun Wizard, and more.
About Garrett Kato:
With a new five song EP to be released this fall Garrett Kato has decided to take a more stripped down folk country approach to this new EP. “I’ve been listening to a lot of old country tunes and new alt country artists, like Ryan Adams and Kurt Vile. I wanted to keep the original idea of the song. and not loose it’s integrity with too much production and added instruments. ”
Garrett was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He recorded his first self titled EP and sent it off to three major Canadian radio stations and they started putting some tracks from the EP into rotation.A few big festivals and hand shakes later Iheended up in the studio with Producer Todd Simko (Xavier Rudd, The Organ) to record his first full length album “The Wilderness”.
After finishing the album he decided to take off to Australia. Along the way Garrett met Pete Murray. Pete introduced me to his producer Anthony Lycenko. Garrett now set to record at the famous 301 and Rocking Horse studios this summer.
